I mean, I always say weddings are magic, but Sophie and Niall’s day at Willow Farm had me positively levitating with joy. Set in the dreamiest rustic barn venue in Loughborough, this wedding was one of those rare ones that just felt like the couple through and through — chic, unbothered, full of style and soul.

The Venue — The Willow Marsh Farm
If Wes Anderson designed a countryside wedding venue, Willow Farm would be it. Think rustic charm meets interior design Pinterest board. The ceremony took place in the old stables — yes, actual former horse stables — which have been lovingly converted into a ceremony space that still hints at its equestrian past. Each little stable “nook” (let’s go with nook, much better than cubicle, right?) gave it such an intimate, cosy feel, like each guest was tucked into their own slice of the story.
And then… the dining space. Oh. My. Word. Huge vaulted ceilings, gorgeously lit, with an open-plan vibe that kept all the laughter and chatter in one place. There’s a bar right off the dining room too — such a small thing, but honestly a genius move because it keeps the party connected. No more disappearing acts to faraway bar huts. We love to see it. So, shooting somewhere for the first time means I don’t have this problem! I feel free, I feel creative, I’ve done my research before heading there by looking up imagery from the venue on Google and across Socials — so I also feel inspired!
Sophie’s Dress — Chic Meets Boho
Can we talk about the dress? Sophie floated into that ceremony like a woodland fairy goddess. She wore a floral, floaty number that looked like it was hand-stitched by wildflowers and sunshine. It was modern and romantic and a little bit ethereal — basically the bridal version of a Sufjan Stevens song. I was obsessed. And she moved so freely in it — which, let’s be honest, is essential when you’re dancing later and possibly doing an impromptu high kick to ABBA (not naming names but… someone definitely did that).

Bridal Party Vibes — Natural & Wild
The grounds of Willow Farm are just this glorious stretch of wild grasses and golden fields — a photographer’s dream. So naturally, we took full advantage. The bridal party shots had this soft, bohemian feel to them. No stiff posing, no awkward hands, just real joy and wind-swept magic. I always say it, but relaxed people make for beautiful photos — and this crew? Absolutely nailed it.
Also shoutout to the groomsmen who started an impromptu game of tag mid-shoot — iconic behaviour…
The Day Unfolds — Laughter, Love, and a Lot of Dancing
Sophie and Niall were so chill about their day. Their main goal? For it to feel like them, not a Pinterest checklist. And that’s exactly what it was — laid back, full of heart, and absolutely hilarious. I barely had to pose a single shot after the portraits were done because everything just happened. The tears during speeches, the scrunched-nose laughs, the drunk uncle falling off a hay bale — all golden.
They didn’t want to be dragged away from the day for hours of portraits either (a common request and one I’m fully on board with!). So we kept things snappy — about 20-25 minutes in total — and then they got back to their party. I firmly believe that your wedding photos should work around your day, not the other way round.
Final Thoughts…
Sophie and Niall — if you’re reading this, thank you for being such legends. Your wedding was joy bottled up and shaken with glitter. If every weekend could be like this one, I’d be the happiest, most emotional photographer around (wait, I already am).
Willow Farm, you beauty. Until next time.
