When the Rain Came — and They Ran Into It

You know what most couples do when the sky opens? They run for cover. But Charlotte and Jack? They ran into it. The moment the rain started, they laughed, linked arms, and walked straight outside — no umbrellas, no drama, just pure joy. And honestly? It was cinematic.

Autumn rain has this way of softening everything — the light, the sounds, the whole atmosphere. It turned their wedding into something quiet and magical. From a photographer’s perspective, it was dreamy — rain-soaked kisses, moody skies, and Charlotte’s gown catching the wind just right. Some weddings are beautiful. This one? It was beautifully real.

Wootton Hall: A Venue With Chapters

Wootton Hall in Ulceby, near Grimsby, is one of those places that just gives and gives. Georgian townhouse elegance? Check. A cool, industrial barn for dining? Check. Manicured gardens that feel like they belong in a Jane Austen film? You guessed it — check.

It’s a venue with chapters, and that means endless opportunities for beautiful, varied photos throughout the day. The ceremony, the portraits, the party — each part felt like it had its own setting. I love working here because no two weddings ever look the same, and Charlotte & Jack made full use of every space (even in the rain — more on that below…).

Charlotte & Jack: Country Souls with City Style

From the moment I met Charlotte and Jack, I knew their wedding was going to be something special. They’re proper outdoorsy souls — like, walk-their-seven-dogs-every-day kind of outdoorsy (yes, seven — how iconic is that?). Their energy is relaxed, kind, and full of that low-key love that just works. They didn’t want fuss or fanfare — they just wanted a day that felt like them. Nature, people, good vibes. So when it came to the idea of an outdoor ceremony in autumn? Charlotte was all in. No hesitation. And that attitude set the tone for the whole day — grounded, joyful, and totally unbothered by anything that didn’t go exactly to plan.

That Dress Though: A Modern-Day Fairytale

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate Charlotte’s dress. A Suzanne Neville masterpiece, with a huge, clean-cut princess silhouette that brought all the drama without a hint of lace or fuss. It was bold, elegant, and completely her. The gown was all about the shape — it didn’t need embellishments to make a statement. It floated and swished and caught the light in the most beautiful way. Jack kept it sharp and classic, and the wedding party? Packed with bridesmaids and groomsmen looking like they’d walked off a Pinterest board. The whole vibe was timeless with a bit of edge — very approved by me.
