Stubton Hall Wedding Photography

Jack and Charlotte’s wedding day didn’t have a single moment of calm! These two know how to throw a party and their day also involved a huge bridal party comprising nine bridesmaids and ten Groomsmen.

Colourful carnage with a huge bridal party

Being the wedding photographer for this couple was such an incredible whirlwind! Arriving to bridal prep in the morning, I threw the door open to Stubton Hall’s Bridal Suite to find fifteen adult girls and three little girls in one space, accompanied by very loud music, lots of gorgeous wedding clutter and one very giddy bride! Charlotte was totally free of any nerves amongst it all though and took it all in her stride. She opened her gift from her Groom Jack which included a Celine Dion vinyl because she’s the ultimate fan girl.

The day continued as it started and all I had to do was keep up and photograph it all! The guests were all hilarious and fun which absolutely helped! The bridesmaids were brilliant, funny and all so proud to watch their friends get married and the big crowd of Groomsmen all went out of their way to help me wherever they could.

How many bridesmaids is too many bridesmaids?

As a wedding photographer, I get asked this a lot. I also get asked “…how many best men can I have?”

Honestly? The answer I always give is; these days, it’s almost traditional not to conform.

YOU decide. Make up your own rules. How many do you want to have?

As a photographer, my job is to make it work — and with Jack and Charlotte’s crowd, make it work I did.

With a huge bridal party, I use different approaches. I introduce levels, chairs, groups and fun ways to photograph everyone without the group looking stiff. I get everyone laughing and help everyone have fun and it means that big group shots just look amazing overall.

So actually, the more the merrier!

A dance floor like no other

Whenever I photograph weddings, I always endeavour to learn as many names of your wedding party as I can. It’s one of my non-negotiables, because then it means people warm to me quicker and let their guard down which means you get more natural shots.

This wedding was one of the best examples of that! The dance floor was so unhinged, I even made a reel about it. See below. Charlotte and Jack had a saxophonist, a band and a DJ to ensure that everyone stayed on the dance floor all night. They also paid me for two extra hours of coverage too, to ensure I was there to document the madness. As you’ll see from the reel below, I really did.
